Project Profile: Leading Surety Chooses Beacon For Construction Consulting at 3 NYC Colleges
In early 2023, Beacon was retained by a leading Surety company to provide construction consulting services for ongoing construction projects at three separate college campuses in New York City. Beacon was hired to help evaluate and support all three projects after the General Contractor for the projects was facing bankruptcy. Among the services that Beacon has provided on the projects are:
- Cost-to-Complete Analysis
- Construction Management
- Reviewing Project Financial Documents
- Assisting with Payment Bond Reviews & Processing
- Evaluating and Monitoring On-Site Progress for the Surety
Beacon VP John Yeung is taking a lead role on this project with support from Assistant Project Manager Myat Cyn. Among the three projects, Beacon is providing Construction Management services related to a Theater renovation project at Queensborough Community College, which is now nearing completion (as of March 2023). Work at the theater include interior and exterior renovations.
The Queensborough Performing Arts Center (QPAC) includes an 800-seat theater and other facilities for live performances, private events, and other arts, education, and cultural programs. QPAC is located on the campus of Queensborough Community College (QCC) in Bayside, Queens, NY. QCC is one of seven community colleges within the City University of New York (CUNY) system and serves 12,000 students.
