Beacon Staff Profile: Janet Mosey, Office & Accounting Manager

For more than 17 years, Janet Mosey has been a key member of the Beacon Consulting Group team, helping ensure that day-to-day financial, accounting, and related operational activities run smoothly and efficiently. She brings a positive energy to the workplace with her great sense of humor, warm personality, and ability to stay calm under pressure—qualities that help keep team morale high across the company.

Dennis O’Neill, Beacon’s founder and president, says, “Janet is someone who provides essential support to virtually every person in the company, whether it’s handling internal financial matters or helping prepare information for presentation to clients. She’s not just an invaluable team member—she’s also built strong relationships with many of our clients. We’re lucky to have her!”

Keeping Things Running Behind the Scenes

Based in Beacon’s Medford, MA office, Janet handles many of the company’s internal accounting responsibilities, including payroll, invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial record-keeping, and managing client and vendor files. She also plays a crucial role in preparing company-wide and project-specific financial reports and works closely with Beacon’s external accountants.

Beyond her accounting / bookkeeping duties, Janet also assists Dennis' Executive Assistant Cheryl Cooke with administrative support in the Medford, MA office, such as coordinating with outside service providers, and helping to organize Beacon’s participation in industry conferences—including client/partner networking events.

Janet says that one of the best things about working at Beacon is the people: “We’re like a family. Many of us have been here for over 15 years, so we’ve grown together as a company and work really well as a team. Plus, it’s great working with my brother, Jim Bruno (VP of Beacon’s New England region). Dennis is a great President to work for—he genuinely cares about all of his employees and he’s always understanding and supportive. This makes Beacon a great place to work, because we have a great work-life balance.”

Life Beyond Work

Janet is the proud mother of two grown children, Connor and Alyssa. She attended Bentley University and earned a BS in Quantitative Analysis. Outside of work, Janet has a wide range of interests, including:

  • Traveling – Janet has explored destinations across the U.S., Canada, and Europe, including Ireland, Iceland, Italy, France, England, Spain, Germany, and Portugal. Some of her favorite places include the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Napa Valley, New Orleans, Charleston, SC, Hawaii, Vancouver, Toronto, and Quebec. Janet also enjoys spending time vacationing in Maine with her family, especially in the summer and fall.
  • Amateur Cake Decorating – Janet loves creating custom cakes for family birthdays, often making intricate 3D designs. Some of her past creations include cakes shaped like a sneaker, a pocketbook, a teapot, a car, and many more.
  • The Order Sons & Daughters of Italy in America – Janet is proud of her Italian heritage and is a member of the The Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America. The organization is the largest and the oldest Italian-American Fraternal Organization in the U.S. As an active member, Janet helps organize fundraisers to support local charities and non-profits. Events she’s helped with include golf tournaments, Comedy Night, dances, and yard sales.

Career Journey

Before joining Beacon, Janet built an impressive career across several industries, including:

  • Statistician at Safety Insurance for two years.
  • Cost Analyst at Saga Tours for six years, setting prices for travel packages.
  • Part-time work at Fidelity Investments, while raising her children.
  • Stay-at-home mom (for a few years).
  • Part-time role at Herley New England, a supplier of sonar and radar devices for the U.S. Government and defense contractors.

Janet’s dedication, expertise, and friendly demeanor make her an irreplaceable part of the Beacon team. Whether she’s crunching numbers, helping organize events, or bringing people together, she continues to be a driving force behind the company’s success.
