Beacon Staff Profile: Andrew Lem, Surety Consultant & Project Engineer
Andrew Lem, E.I.T., joined Beacon in 2017 and quickly became a key member of our New York City construction consulting team. A native New Yorker who grew up in Northern Westchester County, Andrew is a graduate of Villanova University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Since joining Beacon, Andrew has been involved in a wide variety of construction consulting assignments, covering all of the following areas. Andrew has also become the "go-to team member" in our New York office for construction loan monitoring and related services. His experience includes:

When asked what he likes about working at Beacon Andrew said: “It’s interesting to be involved as projects are being built and then see them come to completion, especially when it’s the construction of a new building or a big renovation project. It feels good to know that our team had an important role in the process. Also, we have a great team of people who I enjoy working with.”
Prior to joining Beacon, Andrew worked as a Staff Engineer for a Pennsylvania-based engineering / consulting firm. His experience there included:
- Designing plans for site layout and grading, stormwater management, and soil erosion & sediment control
- Performing site investigations to assess and document site conditions
- Reviewing submittals and RFIs against conformance specifications
- Assisting in addressing regulatory comments from review letters to obtain agency approval and permitting.
- Managing project administration (communications, cost estimates, and report prep)
Since joining Beacon, Andrew has lived in Manhattan and Brooklyn and enjoys exploring New York City's many parks, neighborhoods, and attractions. Andrew is an avid sports fan, but also enjoys competing in intramural and coed sports leagues for fun. When not working, Andrew enjoys traveling, hiking, and exploring national parks, particularly in the western U.S. He has visited and hiked in some of the country's greatest parks, including Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.
