Beacon Construction Consulting Project Profile: Carmel, NY Fire Station Expansion & Renovation
Beacon Consulting Group was retained by a leading Surety company to provide construction consulting services related to a Firehouse expansion and renovation project in Carmel, NY. The town is located approximately 50 miles north of New York City, has a population of 34,000 people, and is served by an all-volunteer fire department.
In the summer of 2021, construction started on the 11,000-sf expansion to the town's main firehouse. Notable features of the $4.5-million project are the construction of a large new building directly behind the existing firehouse. The new structure includes a 5-bay fire truck garage, training area, and equipment storage. The project also includes a 2-story structure connecting the new garage to the existing firehouse. Like many fire departments across the U.S., the new garage is designed to have taller and wider vehicle bays to accommodate the modern fire trucks (and other vehicles) which are larger and taller than those of the past. The overall project also included site preparation work, a new driveway, and modifications to the existing parking area.
Beacon's role in the project is to act as the Surety's construction consultant, helping to track the project, and facilitate its completion. According the current planned schedule, this construction project should be completed by late 2022.
