Project Profile: Beacon Helps Leading Surety With University Gym Completion Project in Florida
Ave Maria University is a private 4-year college located in Southwest Florida (not far from Fort Myers and Naples). Beacon was retained by a leading Surety to help with the completion of construction/renovation projects underway at the university's athletic complex. Beacon Vice President Kieran O'Connor led the project, operating out of Beacon's Ft. Lauderdale, FL office.
The Surety brought in Beacon when the GC was falling behind and at risk of defaulting on the contract. With Beacon's help, the project was completed in early January of 2024. Beacon provided surety consulting and project oversight services to help expedite the completion of work. The project included:
- Renovation of large New College Gymnasium Space
- Installation of 2 New Gym floors inclusive of striping & sealing
- New Bleachers along with additional bleacher modifications.
- Related Gym work (shot clocks, volleyball sleeves, basketball backboards/hoops, divider curtains etc).
Ave Maria University (AMU) is a 4-year, private university located in Ave Maria, FL. The school was founded in 2003 and the total enrollment (as of 2022) was reported to be 1311 students. The campus is approximately 113 acres in size.
