Led by a 50% increase in residential construction spending, New York City construction spending is poised to increase by 10% overall in 2014, according to the midyear forecast published by the New York Building Congress. After reaching $28.5 billion in total construction spending in 2013, the Building Congress is currently forecasting spending of $31.5 billion for 2014.
On Sunday, August 10th, Beacon's founder and president Dennis O'Neill competed in the 2014 Boston Triathlon. Dennis was excited to participate, along with many other racers, in this "sprint format" triathlon, which included a one-half mile swim in Dorchester Bay, a nine-mile bike ride and a 4.4 mile run. Perfect weather greeted the race participants on Sunday.
wo members of Beacon Consulting's New York office, Jim McInerney and Dan Newcombe, have received their NYC Construction Supervisors licenses. In order to become licensed Construction Superintendents in New York City, Jim and Dan both completed a NYC DOB 40-hour Site Safety Manager course, as well as a 10-hour OSHA Construction Health & Safety Training course.

The company has recently been working on two noteworthy projects in New York City. In Brooklyn, the company was awarded a contract to work on a project for the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY).
Like many runners in this year's Boston marathon, Beacon Consulting Group's President and founder, Dennis O'Neill, paid tribute to the victims and survivors of the tragic bombings that impacted the 2013 marathon. Dennis said he felt a special exhilaration in crossing the finish line this year.
