This message marks the rare calendar date which comes every 4 years (leap year) - February 29th. I had to use Google to remember why we have leap year, but it's because the earth actually takes 365 days and 6 hours to orbit the sun (not exactly 365 days). That extra quarter of a day has to get accounted for somewhere. So every four years, we add 24 hours (four times six hours) to the calendar at the end of February. It's pretty impressive that ancient civilizations as far back as the Roman Empire (45 BC) had figured out the need for that extra day every 4 years!

In early February, Dennis O'Neill and friends participated in the 15th Annual New England Pond Hockey Classic. The Beacon Bears traveled to Central New Hampshire to compete in the 3-day pond hockey tournament held on Lake Waukewan. Once again, the Bears participated in the “TWIG Recreational Division” where each team has a maximum roster size of 8 players (age 21 and up). Beacon's team will be participating in the ABA's FSLC Midwinter Conference to be held at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans, January 24-26. This is always a great event which brings together the leading Surety companies, law firms, and consultants who are active in the field.
