Happy March! March is always a great month here in the Northeast U.S., with longer, warmer days signaling the end of winter. As I write this note, I'm down working in Beacon's New York City office. This is just a few short blocks from where Beacon was founded 20 years ago this week. At that time, I was a young engineer in my early 30s. I had spent the last several years working in Construction Consulting and had worked my way up to managing the fast-growing New York office for a national construction consulting firm. They were busy and exciting years. Starting a new business was a pretty big risk back then. My wife Laura and I had one young daughter and were planning to have more kids soon. I had a stable career and lots of opportunities for growth. However, I saw that there was a tremendous need for the kind of company that Beacon Consulting Group would become...

The Beacon Bears Pond Hockey team participated in this year's New England Pond Hockey Classic held on February 3-5, 2023. The event was held in Meredith, NH, on Lake Waukewan (right next to New Hampshire’s famous Lake Winnipesaukee, the original site for the tournament). The Bears participated in the “TWIG Recreational Division” where each team has a maximum roster size of 8 players (age 21 and up). Temperatures were very cold this year (with wind chills down to -40F and warnings from the National Weather Service). However, this did not stop Beacon’s hardy crew from hitting the ice and having a lot of fun. Among Beacon's veteran players were Dennis O'Neill and his brother John, both of whom overcame past injuries and operations which might have discouraged less rugged athletes. Every December, Beacon's team members meet for the company's annual Corporate Meeting and Holiday Dinner. This is a great opportunity for our team members to share lessons learned in the past year, highlights of various completed and ongoing projects, information about new technologies, and tips for dealing with difficult situations and projects. As part of the professional development aspect of the corporate meeting, Beacon invites industry experts to participate in a focused panel discussion. Below are some highlights from this years meeting. Special thanks go to Beacon's Michelle Punch, Executive Assistant to Dennis O'Neill. Michelle did a wonderful job of planning this year's meeting, which was one the best we have ever had. Click below for full article and photos...
