I hope your Fall is going well. Please check out this month's Beacon E-news for updates on our projects, staff, and general construction news, including a staff profile of Simon Gallagher who joined our team in January of 2023. Another interesting item in this month's newsletter is an article about the incredible "Sphere" arena which opened in Las Vegas recently (with U2 performing the inaugural concert on Sept. 29th). The Sphere is an amazing feat of architecture, construction engineering, and multi-media technology. Not only is it the largest spherical structure in the world, but it also features the largest high-definition LED screen (more than 4 acres in size).

I hope you have been having a great summer! Once again, the summer seems to have flown by. It's already "back to school" time, with many college students returning to school in the past two weeks, including my two oldest kids. My oldest daughter is a senior at Northeastern University this year and our second daughter has started her sophomore year at Syracuse University. I've always liked this time of year—maybe because I can still feel the excitement of heading back to school and the new experiences that come with that.
Here at Beacon, we are "life-long learners" because there is always something new to learn in our industry, whether it's a new construction process, new technologies or software, or emerging best practices for managing a project. For this reason, our team is actively involved in a variety of professional organizations to keep up to date on the latest trends and technologies.
This summer, our team has been busy managing construction consulting assignments across the U.S. However, all work and no play isn't healthy (especially in the summer)! In July, I had the pleasure of traveling to Ireland with good friends and family members to participate in a charity event - The 41st Annual Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle. I would like to say a big Thank You to everyone who traveled all the way to County Kerry, Ireland to participate in this great event and/or cheer on the riders. Please click here for more info and photos from that event.

Happy Summer! As I write this message, it's June 22nd and I am in down in Cambridge, MD attending the Surety Claims Institute's 48th Annual Meeting, along with three other members of Beacon's Construction Consulting team. The SCI is a great group (the oldest & largest organization dedicated to professionals working in the fidelity and surety industry). I've enjoyed serving as SCI's Treasurer since 2019. This year's meeting has some interesting sessions. Today, Beacon Project Manager Elizabeth Paquet will be speaking as part of an SCI panel discussion entitled "Price Escalation, Inflation, and the Post-Pandemic World - Impacts to the Surety." Overall, the SCI's annual meeting is a great chance to stay on top of what is happening in the surety claims world and also network with friends, clients, and partners in the industry.
