This message marks the rare calendar date which comes every 4 years (leap year) - February 29th. I had to use Google to remember why we have leap year, but it's because the earth actually takes 365 days and 6 hours to orbit the sun (not exactly 365 days). That extra quarter of a day has to get accounted for somewhere. So every four years, we add 24 hours (four times six hours) to the calendar at the end of February. It's pretty impressive that ancient civilizations as far back as the Roman Empire (45 BC) had figured out the need for that extra day every 4 years!
Speaking of important calendar dates, March 3rd is coming up next week. This year, March 3rd marks Beacon's 21st anniversary in business. It's incredible how fast 21 years has flown by...
Anabella Vivas joined Beacon recently for a 6-month internship as part of Northeastern University's Co-op (Cooperative Education) program. In early February, Dennis O'Neill and friends participated in the 15th Annual New England Pond Hockey Classic. The Beacon Bears traveled to Central New Hampshire to compete in the 3-day pond hockey tournament held on Lake Waukewan. Once again, the Bears participated in the “TWIG Recreational Division” where each team has a maximum roster size of 8 players (age 21 and up). On December 7th and 8th, Beacon's team came together in Boston to celebrate our 20th Anniversary and hold our annual corporate meeting and holiday party.
