Beacon Team Updates: Congratulations To Jim McInerney on Receiving His LEED AP Credential
Congratulations to Jim McInerney, Surety Consultant & Construction Project Manager at Beacon Consulting Group. Jim can now add the designation “LEED AP” to his growing list of professional credentials. Jim recently passed the LEED AP (Building Design & Construction) and LEED Green exams. The LEED AP designation indicates Jim’s advanced depth of knowledge in green building practices.
LEED stands for "Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design" and is a rating system created by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to evaluate the environmental performance of a building and also encourage sustainable building design, construction and operation. LEED categorizes buildings by type and provides guidelines for implementing sustainable solutions. LEED-certified buildings cost less to operate, and can reduce energy and water bills by up to 40%. LEED certification and accreditation is respected worldwide as a mark of achievement in green building design and operation.
The first part of the LEAD AP (Building Design & Construction) exam is the LEED Green Associate exam, which tests a candidate's knowledge of green building practices for both commercial and residential spaces and both new construction and existing buildings as well as how to support other professionals working on LEED projects. The second part of the LEED AP exam is the LEED BD+C specialty exam which tests the knowledge and skills needed to participate in the design process, to support and encourage integrated design, and to streamline the application and certification process.
