Beacon Providing Construction Consulting Services for Playland Amusement Park Project
Beacon Consulting Group was selected by a leading Surety company to provide construction consulting services on an infrastructure rehabilitation project for Playland Park. The amusement park is located in Rye, New York, along the Long Island Sound. Built in 1928, the 280-acre park is owned by Westchester County, NY.
Construction at the park started in early 2021 and is currently ongoing. The project entails repairs and upgrades to the existing infrastructure, and involves electrical, structural, HVAC, and architectural work. Beacon was able to assist the contractor and owner in facilitating resolution of several project issues. The total value for the project is $25 million.
More About Playland. As the only Art Deco amusement park in America, Playland is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The park was built at the time when the introduction of affordable automobiles was making Westchester's shoreline a popular destination for New York City residents. The park's original design included picnic areas, restaurants, three ice-skating rinks, a swimming pool, two beaches totaling approximately 7,900 feet of shoreline, in addition to the park's amusement rides.
