Beacon Project Update: Construction Progress Continues at Rutgers University CCB Project
As reported in recent E-news, Beacon Consulting Group, Inc. was selected to provide construction consulting and surety consulting services related to the completion of a new building project at Rutgers University (Piscataway, NJ). Beacon has provided a wide range of on-site and consulting services to support the Surety on this project. The interconnected buildings being constructed will be a state-of-the-art, 145,000 square foot multi-purpose facility—the new home for Rutgers' Chemistry & Chemical Biology (CCB) Department. The CCB building(s) will house classrooms, research facilities, laboratories, conference rooms, offices, a large auditorium and other multi-use spaces.
To date, Beacon has provided all of the following services on the project:
- Developed RFP & helped secure completion contractor
- Project oversight (Consultant for Surety)
- Project communications & paperwork (Reports, RFIs, Submittals)
- Beacon's team also served in an interim construction management role
In recent weeks and months, a great deal of progress has been made on this complex construction project. The General Contractor is managing a number of differerent, specialized contractors working simultaneously on the construction / installation of many internal and external building systems and features, including:
- Curtainwall Installation
- Sheathing & Framing Work
- CFMF (Metal Framing)
- Terracotta Exterior & Screen Walls
- Masonry Work (Concrete Stairs & Other)
- Electrical (Transformers, Main Feeders, Power Panels, Pull Boxes, Raceways, Wiring)
- Plumbing (Piping for Pumps, Lab Waste/Venting, Domestic Systems)
- HVAC-Related Work
- Fire Protection Systems
- Stainless Steel Ductwork
- Roofing Work
