The project entailed the reconstruction of the Willimansett Bridge, a steel truss bridge which spans the Connecticut River and connects Chicopee, MA and Holyoke, MA. The bridge, which carries vehicular and pedestrian traffic, was originally built in 1891.
Beacon’s Role/Service(s):
The Willimansett Bridge refurbishment project originally started in 2011, but the original General Contractor (GC) on the project went bankrupt. Following the bankruptcy of the GC, Beacon was retained by the Surety to help get the project back on track. Beacon provided a variety of surety / construction consulting services on the project, including:
- Performing an assessment of the cost to complete
- Ratifying existing subcontractors
- Developing a re-let package
- Assisting the Surety with selection of a completion contractor
