Beacon Merchant Construction Project Highlights
June-July 2014
Beacon Consulting Group’s sister company, Beacon Merchant Construction, Inc., is a construction company with a $20-million project bonding capacity. The company has recently been working on two noteworthy projects in New York City. In Brooklyn, the company was awarded a contract to work on a project for the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY). The work entails a major renovation of the agency’s District 15 Garage site. Beacon Merchant is the General Contractor on the project, which includes: Removal and replacement of modular structures, completion of site excavation and paving work, and hookups for electrical, plumbing, and municipal sewerage. The project also entailed the installation of new drainage systems for the site, including dry wells, oil water separators, and storm water detention storage tanks.
In the Mott Haven area of the The Bronx, NY, Beacon Merchant has been working on a major roofing and asbestos abatement project. The Mott Haven Houses are large residential apartment buildings managed by the NYC Housing Authority (NYCHA). Beacon Merchant Construction was hired as the General Contractor to work on the roofing replacement and asbestos abatement on buildings 2, 3, and 4 of the Mott Haven Houses. The asbestos abatement work consists of abating and disposing all existing asbestos contained at the job site. The roofing replacement includes the removal of the existing roof and installation of a new roof system, plus related masonry and metal work. Beacon Merchant started on the work this summer, with completion scheduled for March 2015.
