Beacon Consulting Group Team Will Participate in ABA Fidelity & Surety Law (FSLC) 2024 Midwinter Conference in New Orleans, LA
Beacon's team will be participating in the ABA's FSLC Midwinter Conference to be held at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans, January 24-26. This is always a great event which brings together the leading Surety companies, law firms, and consultants who are active in the field. On the first day, Beacon's President Dennis O'Neill will be participating as a "faculty member" for the conference's Construction Program. Specifically, he will be a member of the expert panel discussing "Processes In Construction." This panel will delve into all of the processes which must be planned and managed during any construction project, starting with those which take place before on-site work begins and going all the way through to the project closeout process.
Beacon Project Manager and Surety Consultant Elizabeth Paquet will participate in an interactive presentation / game show titled "Construction Jeopardy." Each construction project has its own unique characteristics and quirks. In this session, the panelists will engage in an entertaining and educational round of Jeopardy to explore and deliberate on different legal facets of a typical construction project. Topics include contract terms, liquidated damages, payment defenses, indemnity obligations, and more. The conversation will delve into perspectives not only from the contractor's point of view but also that of a Surety company.
This year, Beacon will be co-hosting three fun events in conjunction with the conference. On Thursday evening January 25th, Beacon will co-host an evening of cocktails, dinner, and entertainment at The National WWII Museum, located in the Arts & Warehouse District, about one mile from New Orleans' French Quarter. The museum's five campus buildings are thematically arranged, featuring permanent installations and special exhibitions. Guests will have an opportunity to explore some of the many interesting exhibits at the museum before enjoying dinner and entertainment. After the museum event finishes up, Beacon will be co-hosting an after-party at the House of Blues. On Friday, January 26th, Dennis O'Neill and Adrian D'Arcy (D'Arcy Vicknair) will be co-hosting their annual "Irish Luncheon" at Brennan's Restaurant, a landmark eatery in the French Quarter.
